One day a person told her: “There are so many poor people here, you can’t change anything.” Teresa said: “No person can do great things alone, but, we can all do small things with great love altogether.” Since she helped the needy as if she were their mother, they started calling her Mother Teresa.

あるひ、だれかがいいました。「ここには　まずしいひとが　とてもたくさんいるから、あなたは　なにもかえることはできない。」と。 テレサは　いいました。「ひとりで　すばらしいことが　できるひとは　いませんが、わたしたちみんなが　おおきなあいをこめれば　ちいさなことはできます。」 かのじょは　まずしいひとびとを　おかあさんのように　たすけたので、みんなは　かのじょを　マザー・テレサと　よびはじめました。
